5 Yoga poses that may help reduce uric acid naturally

If you’re dealing with high uric acid levels, you’re not alone. This condition can lead to painful gout, joint stiffness, and even kidney problems. While a balanced diet and hydration are key, adding yoga to your routine can naturally support better uric acid management. Here are five yoga poses that may help reduce uric acid levels when practised regularly.

1. Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Spinal Twist)

This twisting pose gently massages the abdominal organs and improves digestion. Better digestion means less uric acid buildup in the body. It also stretches the spine and relieves stiffness in the back and hips. Try holding the pose for 30 seconds on each side while breathing deeply.

2. Pavanamuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose)

True to its name, this pose helps in releasing gas and detoxifying the digestive system. It also stimulates the liver and kidneys—two organs that help flush uric acid from the bloodstream. Practising this pose in the morning can give your body a natural detox boost.

3. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Cobra pose strengthens your back, opens up the chest, and improves circulation. It also activates the kidneys and helps in flushing toxins like uric acid out of the system. Just make sure you don’t overextend the spine and keep your elbows slightly bent if needed.

4. Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)

This pose stimulates the thyroid gland and stretches the back, hips, and thighs. It improves blood flow and supports the endocrine system, which may help balance the body’s uric acid levels. Practise this pose for 5–10 breaths to feel its full benefits.

5. Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

Triangle pose stretches the legs, hips, and torso, and improves overall digestion and metabolism. A healthy metabolism is crucial for breaking down purines, the substance that forms uric acid. This standing pose also helps with balance and coordination.
