5 Vastu tips for creating the perfect yoga and meditation room

This International Yoga Day, design your yoga and meditation spaces as per these Vastu tips from experts.

Imagine having a dedicated space in your home for yoga and meditation where you connect with yourself spiritually. For International Yoga Day, we speak to Vastu expert Ashna Ddhannak, holistic life coach at Enlightening Lifestyle, who believes that designing a sacred space always benefits spiritual growth. Here are a few Vastu tips you can consider while designing your meditation or yoga room.

Direction Of The Room

According to Vastu Shastra, the northeast corner is known as Ishan (the corner for Ishwar or God). This direction is where Earth’s powerful magnetic energy is generated. Therefore, this is an ideal location for meditation. As per Vastu, the idea of a subtle universal life force is important. The east and northeast directions attract subtle universal life force energy essential for good health. It helps create peace and stability.

Use Jasmine Essential Oil

Additionally, for International Yoga Day, you can try using jasmine essential oil in a diffuser to create a pleasant aroma while meditating or performing yoga. It attracts good fortune and keeps the mind sharp.

Burn Santo Wood And White Sage Herbs

Burning palo santo wood, white sage herbs, and agarwood attract positive energy. They will help you overcome illnesses, allergies, headaches, rheumatic pain, and skin infections. They are also an effective treatment for anxiety, stress and depression.

Decorate The Space

Decorating the meditation or prayer room according to Vastu will improve your holistic well-being by attracting cosmic energies that nurture you from within. Create a sacred altar and decorate it with your favourite elements like statues or photos of mentors, gurus, or spiritual masters, among others. You can add fresh flowers or burn candles and incense sticks. Placing a white cloth as an asana mat before meditating will help you attain peace.

Colours For The Yoga/Meditation Space

Vastu expert Ashna Ddhannak suggests using light yellow to decorate the yoga or meditation room. It promotes communication and boosts confidence. The other colours that can be used for the meditation room include green which improves concentration, white which ensures purity, and beige symbolising new ideas.
